Not necessary to back up. Over 32KB. You can use MBC2 which can expand ROM area.
Also, MBC2 has small amount of battery back up RAM.

MBC3 has Memory Bank Controller function, also has RTC.

GB-KISS
This CART has been developed by Hudoson K.K. GB-KIss has special MBC which is called HuC-1.
Communication interface board for GB-Kiss. To connect COM port. communication method is used IR port which is equipped in GB-KISS.
